Capsule Geology

The area is underlain by phyllites and limestones of the Cambrian to Devonian Index Formation, Lardeau Group. A pluton of monzonite to granodiorite belonging to the Middle Jurassic Selkirk stocks intrudes the metasediments, developing mineralized skarns.

An exposure of light grey silicified limestone as wide as 4 meters and 2 meters high on the steep western slope of Downie Creek contains patches of skarn assemblage alteration and associated irregular pods of chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena in various proportions. Skarn alteration consists of dark brown and orange-brown garnet with veins or flecks of chlorite. Assay from eight samples from the showing ranged to 4.5 per cent copper, 68.3 per cent lead 15.5 per cent zinc and 4.0 gram/tonne silver, each value from a different sample (Assessment Report 27696).

The showing yielded 15 per cent lead, 7 per cent zinc, 3.5 grams per tonne gold and 300 grams per tonne silver over a channel-sampled exposed width of 2.3 metres (Press Release May 9, 2005).

Orphan Boy Resources staked the Rain 100 and Rain 200 claims in January 2004 and followed up with prospecting, trenching and diamond drilling along with grid cutting, and on parts of it, soil geochemical and magnetometer surveys. Only limited work was completed on the large group of properties held by Orphan Boy. Drilling was conducted by Orphan Boy on the Alfie polymetallic vein target, consisting about 200 metres in 1 diamond-drill hole.

Please refer to Ruger (082M 156) for further details of the Rain property.
